As you know, I used to up my mixes to RapidShare, then MegaUpload and FileSonic when RS went tits up. Now they've gone too, thanks to the US government thinking it should fight piracy, not caring if it shits on everybody else in the meantime. But then, only Abe thought it was a government of the people, by the people, for the people. The rest of us know it's a government of corrupt politicians, by the oil companies, for the big corporate businesses.

I'll upload this mix to a MediFire as they seem to be OK for now but fuck knows how long any link will stay live in the current climate. Grab it while you can.

Dunfyboy's 808 State Mix

It's been a while since I did one of my artist mixes and even longer since I did an old school mix so, to put the record straight on both counts, here's my tribute to 808 State, including a couple of tracks they did with MC Tunes, remixes from Aphex Twin, Brian Eno and (of course) Jon Carter along with 808 State's remix of The Stone Roses' classic "Made Of Stone".
The mix has been pretty much done and dusted for a few days now, but the original 3/4 time version of "Lopez" didn't really mix properly with One In Ten so I've used the Eno version instead. Even so, I'm still not sure. Let me know what you think. If you fancy a mix with the original version of "Lopez", I'd recommend this awesome mix. Oh, it's one of mine. I didn't even notice :)

I'm no huge fan of D&B but I dabble once in a while. I wanted to do a quick mix so I figured High Contrast was as good a target as any, especially as most of his tunes are the same tempo (173bpm, if you're interested). Makes it a bit easier. High Contrast's own tunes are pretty good, but it's his remixes that first brought him to my attention. So here's 26 tracks, some by him, some remixed by him, all jammed into a 80 minute mix by me.

It ends with his remix of MGMT's Time To Pretend which is, to say the least, fucking awesome. I've listened to it on a loop on more than one occasion. Even my girlfriend likes it. The only problem is, as it isn't an official release, the only way I could get hold of it was to strip the audio from a YouTube someone had posted where they had upped a recording of it getting played on Annie Mac's Mashup on Radio 1. It had Radio 1 idents and Annie talking to High Contrast over it so I had to re-edit it. To save you the trouble, I've included a stand alone copy of my re-edited version in the zip file. It clips a little, but unless someone has a better version it's probably as good as you'll get.

When I posted my Nightshift Mix I mentioned it was intended to be a DJ Shadow mix. It started of well but after just 3 tracks DJ Vadim crept in, then Hexstatic, then Depth Charge. You get the idea. So, here, at last, is my DJ Shadow mix.

This mix has a bit of everything - early Mo' Wax head-nodders from "Entroducing" and "Preemtive Strike", more rap (& guitar?!?) orientated stuff from "The Private Press" and "The Outsider" and, of course, a tune or three from his collabaration with James Lavelle on UNKLE's "Psyence Fiction " . Dunfyboy's Public Enemy Mix

The most important band in the history of hip hop? Yeah, probably. Maybe even one of the most important bands ever.

Public Enemy have been going for over 20 years now and along the way they've released some of the best rap songs you could hope to hear.

Although their later rhymes may not have the impact of their earlier stuff this mix does have the odd recent tune in it. Most of the tunes though come from their first four albums: Yo! Bum Rush The Show, It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back, Fear Of A Black Planet and Apocalypse 91-The Enemy Strikes Black. These albums are my favourites, maybe because I first heard them as a nipper, maybe because they've been sampled on so many other records that I bought. Who knows? If you want to check out PE, get these 4 first. I've seen them live twice and if you get a chance, I'd recommend it.

I'm sure there's quite afew people who have done a mix of their favourite Chemical Brothers tunes. Here's mine. Like my Fatboy Slim mix, I knocked this up a while ago and, as I wasn't that keen on the last album, I never bothered to update it.

I remember hearing the Chems on Tom Wilson's Bonus Beats radio show back in the mid 90s (they may have even still been called The Dust Brothers at the time) and I just thought "WTF is this?" Their sound was so different from anything else I'd heard. Obviously, I really thought "What the fuck is this?" because back then I didn't know WTF "WTF" stood for :) There seemed to be new, fresh sound revolutions happening all the time back then. Am I getting old or was music better back then? God, I sound like my dad.
