Dunfyboy's Remix Mix

Click here to download this mix from Rapidshare.

I've had this mix in mind for a while after stumbling across I Prefer The Remix where I found a mp3 of Jon Carter's remix of Cubik (well, it saved me ripping it from the 12").

Some remixes are a complete waste of time. They might just change the beat slightly or have the breakdown run for a bit longer or stick a 4-on-the-floor drumbeat over a rock song to make a club remix. You'll often hear a "breaks" remix is just the original tune with amen breaks laid over the top. Speed it up and you've got a drum and bass remix (like the Rcola remix, but I couldn't help myself). On the other hand, some can prove more popular than the original.

Timo Mass' remix of Doom's Night is the one everyone thinks of when you mention the song, so much so that other remixes are based on this version rather than the original. Jam & Spoon's remix of Age Of Love became the definitive version and has appeared on more compilations than the original mix and, as you'll see with Ed Solo's take on it, sometimes you can totally reinvent an old song.

You might even find a remix gets overlooked because it's on the flipside of a classic. That's why I've used the Morning Time Mix of You've Got The Love. It never stood a chance against Erin's Bootleg Mix. The Now Voyager Remix is another example of breathing new life into an old song.

I'm sure there are other remixes you think may have been on this mix. I did consider Born Slippy Nuxx, but the Nuxx version bares no resemblance to the original so I've always thought of it as an original song in it's own right.

Hopefully there's something here you've never heard before. There's a lot more out there than the main mix they keep hammering on MTV or Radio One. Sometimes you have to dig a little deeper, and remixes like these are your reward.

Enjoy.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the mixes - this is the first comment I've left but must admit to downloading plenty. Some top mixes and a few blasts from the past that I'd forgotten about. Good work on chucking all the FSUK stuff on here too.
Keep up the good work !!
