Quick Update

Been kinda busy, but I've created a mix for the Pitch Kontrol show on WRLR. It should be broadcast today (8pm GMT, 2pm CST) but they're having a few problems. If it does go ahead, you can catch it here pitchkontrol.co.cc

A belated congrats to Spain for their World Cup win. The better team definitely won. The Dutch were just hacking bastards. Let's just hope Liverpool can hang on to Torres now :)

Anyway, here we have all 60 tracks from the Big Beat Elite series of albums brought out by Lacerba at the end of the 90's. Each release featured 20 tracks and the CD version also featured a CD mix of those tracks on a bonus disc, but here they all are together for the first time.

Podcast goes Bye Bye

I got an email from MyPodcast.com (the original host of my mixes) saying that they were taking my podcast down as I hadn't accessed it in a while. They took their time. I haven't posted anything there since 2008.

I visited their forum a couple of months ago and I saw from the comments that the site seems as unreliable as ever and people are still having issues uploading podcasts.

As the first 64 mixes on here were linked to their servers, I've upped them all to MegaUpload and updated the links on here. That's about 80 hours worth of music peeps. Took all week. Hope you appreciate it.

I checked the download figures for the 64 mixes hosted on MyPodcast.com. 9778 downloads in total and only a few comments. I make these mixes for myself. There's no need to up them to the net. I just do it on the of chance others might like them too. The number of downloads seems to suggest others do get something from them. The number of comments suggests I'm wasting my time.

Thanks to all who took the time to post a comment or two. I appreciate knowing you appreciate the mixes. Everyone else, you're a cunt. That comment link under each post does actually work, you know.

Dunfyboy's 808 State Mix

Get it from MediaFire.
It's been a while since I did one of my artist mixes and even longer since I did an old school mix so, to put the record straight on both counts, here's my tribute to 808 State, including a couple of tracks they did with MC Tunes, remixes from Aphex Twin, Brian Eno and (of course) Jon Carter along with 808 State's remix of The Stone Roses' classic "Made Of Stone".
The mix has been pretty much done and dusted for a few days now, but the original 3/4 time version of "Lopez" didn't really mix properly with One In Ten so I've used the Eno version instead. Even so, I'm still not sure. Let me know what you think. If you fancy a mix with the original version of "Lopez", I'd recommend this awesome mix. Oh, it's one of mine. I didn't even notice :)
01 - In Yer Face (In Yer Face Mix)
02 - Bombadin (Quica Mix)
03 - Nephatiti

37 - One In Ten (UB40 Vocal)

By the way, the double CD special editions of 808 State's CD's have just been re-released with extra tracks and mixes so no excuse for not updating those old C90s.

Get it here.
Never did get that mix finished. Sony fixed the PS3 so I got distracted. Well, when I say fixed, I mean they just waited and did fuck all while keeping PS3 owners in the dark. And when I say Sony, I mean useless cunts. It may eventually see the light of day though.

Sony are useless cunts

I wasn't planning on doing a mix today. I've been playing about with some breaks and mash ups but I just can't get into it. After a 80 hour week I was planning on spending today on PES 2010 and Borderlands but my PS3 is fucked thanks to the useless cunts at Sony not being able to divide by 4.

30 million phat PS3s were turned into paperweights at midnight as the internal clocks sent themselves back in time to 1999. It looks as though they can't cope with 29th February only rolling round every 4 years, rather than every 2.

That's just a best guess of course, because Sony are denying the extent of the problem. Their official line is some users can't connect to PSN. Doesn't sound so bad when you put it like that does it? I don't even sign into PSN that often and rarely play online anyway thanks to BT's shitty phonelines. But the fact is that 30 million PS3 owners can't even play offline. Sony have managed to brick 9 billion quids worth of consoles in one fail swoop.

I don't expect something as technical as a PS3 to run glitch free 100% of the time, but I do expect Sony to admit the scale of the problem and keep its customers up to date with a possible fix rather than leave them all guessing. Internet forums are rife with people pissed of with Sony as they're left wondering if their PS3 are fucked for good as the last word from Sony on the problem was 17 hours ago on Twitter (of all things) and the good old press have charged their greatest investigative journalists with not chasing the story. The Telegraph claims this fuck up is only affecting thousands of people, and the BBC took 16 hours to pretty much just copy and paste Sony's twitter post. This might not make them cunts, but it certainly makes them just as useless.

Rant over.

PS - thanks to the all who've left comments over the past few days. Appreciated as always

Dunfyboy - Trance 8

MediaFire link here.

It's over a year since I did a trance mix and after hearing Mediterranean Flower on the Horizon Radio podcast I meant to include it in Trance 7. I'll admit I don't keep up with trance music like I used to, so I checked out some new releases on Trance Junkies meaning most of this mix is fairly new stuff, along with a couple of tunes from the turn of the decade (last time round) and that long overdue appearance of Mediterranean Flower.

Bit of a news update too. My previous mixes have all been at 128kbps. This one is 192kpbs. It means it should sound a bit better when you crank the volume up and at around 100mb it doesn't make the file too large.

Also, in case you haven't noticed the link over on the right, I've set up another blog - Old School Mixes. I've still to sort out the site layout but all my CD rips of old school dance mixes are up so head over there for a bit of nostalgia.
